Arielle Kebbel Discusses Cast Support for "John Tucker Must Die" Sequel
Arielle Kebbel confirms that the cast of "John Tucker Must Die" is eager for a sequel to happen. "There’s a lot of talk about the sequel," Kebbel stated to PEOPLE at the Warner Bros. Fall TV Celebration. She emphasized, "We're continuing to do our best to push forward on that."
Kebbel mentioned the importance of the project, saying, "I don’t quite know what to say without saying much, but it’s a special, special project. I can say that everyone’s very supportive of a sequel."
Initially, the idea of a second film emerged after an event in March 2024. Actors Jesse Metcalfe, Sophia Bush, and Kebbel reunited for a panel at Epic Cons Chicago. They hinted at script developments during the panel discussion. "I’ve heard rumors of this script — there’s a script," Metcalfe noted. "Apparently, it's amazing."
In the original movie, Metcalfe portrays John, who dates three girls at once. When he breaks up with all of them, the girls recruit help to undermine his womanizing ways. Kebbel, who starred as Carrie, contributed to developing the sequel's script, which she stated would involve the original cast. She share that Metcalfe’s character might get a chance to change his ways, an exciting prospect.
However, not everyone from the original cast has been updated about the progress. Brittany Snow, who played Kate, shared her concerns on Penn Badgley's podcast, Podcrushed. She remarked, "Penn, I don’t know if you’ve had a call, but I’ve gotten no call." Badgley echoed this sentiment, claiming he also had no contact regarding the sequel.
"I mean, it’s maybe possible like the superposition quantum physics," he joked, reflecting on the uncertain fate of the sequel.
Kebbel reveals that most of the original cast remains in communication, celebrating milestones among themselves. She expressed joy over costar Ashanti's new baby, Kareem Kenkaide Haynes, born in July. "I'm so happy for her," Kebbel shared. "I talk to all of them actually. Jesse Metcalfe, I just spoke to like a week ago."
