Ayo Edebiri Faced Serious Threats Following Elon Musk's False Claims About Pirates Role

Ayo Edebiri has shared that she received online death threats following Elon Musk's false claim. The actress is rumored to star in a new "Pirates of the Caribbean" film, PEOPLE reported.
On March 12, Edebiri, 29, commented on Instagram about Musk’s February 7 post on X, in which he condemned Disney and alleged that she would sign on to replace Johnny Depp in an upcoming sequel. Edebiri said, "I got some of the most insane death threats… for a fake reboot of a movie I had never even heard of." She criticized Musk's actions, mentioning both his character and intelligence with humor.

Johnny Depp, 61, last portrayed Jack Sparrow in 2017's "Dead Men Tell No Tales." Franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer has been developing two different concepts for a sixth movie, maintaining an opening for Depp to reprise his role. Although discussions are ongoing about the reboot, many fans await Depp's return.
Her comments on Musk followed quotes she had shared from comedian Bill Burr. Burr criticized Musk in a recent NPR interview, labeling him "evidently a Nazi."
After receiving positive feedback from fans for her current work, Edebiri shared an amusing response to a follower about the "Pirates" role. She replied, "maybe we could make some money idk lmk."

Edebiri appeared at the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards and is now promoting her film "Opus," which hits theaters on March 14. Beyond her acclaimed performance in "The Bear," she is also involved in a live-action "Barney" movie directed by Daniel Kaluuya.
