Barry Keoghan Spotted at Sabrina Carpenter Concert Amid Speculation Over ‘Bed Chem’ Lyrics
On Sunday, October 20, Barry Keoghan joined the audience at Sabrina Carpenter's Short n’ Sweet Tour stop in Charlottesville, Virginia, as shown in fan footage shared online.
When Carpenter, 25, performed "Bed Chem," which hints at their discreet relationship, Keoghan, 32, appeared to hide a knowing smile behind a paper while hearing the lyrics: "Who’s the cute boy with the white jacket and the thick accent?"
In September, Keoghan paid tribute to "Bed Chem" by wearing a white jacket while sitting front-row at the Burberry show during London Fashion Week.
Though Keoghan and Carpenter have been dating since 2023, they maintain a private profile. The release of Carpenter’s "Please Please Please" video in June, showcasing Keoghan in a lead role, surprised many.
In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Carpenter shared her decision to cast Keoghan, who was nominated for an Oscar in 2023 for his role in The Banshees of Inisherin. "I genuinely — like, a not-even-biased opinion — was thinking, who’s the greatest actor I can find for this music video?" she conveyed. "He sat next to me, full of excitement!"
In the music video, Keoghan portrays Carpenter's criminal love interest. He faces arrest after committing a robbery before Carpenter cuffs him to a chair and tapes his mouth shut. "He enjoys the song, which is lovely," Carpenter stated. "He genuinely likes my music, yeah."
While Carpenter hasn’t shared any juicy details about their romance, she has praised Keoghan's talent in front of the camera. "I don’t want to sound biased, but I believe he’s among the best actors of our generation," she remarked to Variety. "Seeing him on screen with my song as the soundtrack made the video even more special."
In an August interview with The Guardian, she described their collaboration as "one of the best experiences I’ve ever had," while tentatively noting, "I’m very honored to work with such a great actor."
Regarding public commentary on her love life, Carpenter noted, "It’s not what I signed up for, but I can’t help my birth." She added, "I want to be honest—I want to write about my life as a 25-year-old girl. But it comes with the territory, so I just have to be like … OK!"
