Ben Foster Files for Divorce From Laura Prepon After Six Years of Marriage
Ben Foster and Laura Prepon have announced their separation after six years of marriage. Foster filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, according to court documents obtained by People. Their date of separation is listed as September 9, 2023.
In the divorce filings, Foster requested that their prenuptial agreement be upheld. He also asked for the equitable division of their assets and debts. Additionally, he indicated that both parties should be responsible for their own legal fees and share court costs equally.
Foster, 44, and Prepon, 44, first connected in 2016. Just a few months later, they announced their engagement. They welcomed their daughter, Ella, in 2017. The couple married the following year, an event Prepon celebrated on social media by posting a wedding photo. She expressed gratitude and good wishes for their future.
In 2020, they expanded their family with the birth of their son. The pair chose to keep his name private to protect him from public attention. Prepon explained their decision, stating they preferred privacy concerning their children.
"Everyone is different in sharing pictures of their kids," she noted in a conversation with People. "It’s a personal thing, and we aim to remain private with our kids." She insisted on protecting their kids as "they aren’t old enough to choose for themselves yet."
Throughout their marriage, Foster and Prepon carefully selected their work commitments to maintain family balance. Prepon remarked on a 2019 episode of The Moms, saying, "Ben and I coordinate our work schedules to prioritize family time." She acknowledged feelings of guilt about her work obligations but stressed that they always communicate about their family's needs.
