Beyoncé Confirmed for Halftime Show at Christmas Day NFL Game
Beyoncé will light up screens this holiday season. She announced on Sunday, November 17, her halftime performance during the Houston Texans versus Baltimore Ravens game at NRG Stadium in Houston on December 25.
In her recent post on X, Beyoncé shared a teaser video highlighting the event, quoting, "HOUSTON, TEXAS – 12.25.24." This NFL clash will be available live on Netflix for the first time this year.
The teaser opens with a vintage car adorned with red roses. The track "AMERIICAN REQUIEM," from her project Cowboy Carter, plays a cappella. The shot pans to the car’s plates reading "BNCNTRY," as Beyoncé stands on the bonnet, showcasing her bare legs.
Illuminated by a spotlight, Beyoncé wears a fitted red, white, and blue mini-dress paired with a white cowboy hat. Her platinum blonde hair flows elegantly. A football arcs toward her, and she catches it effortlessly while maintaining eye contact with the camera. Text on-screen states, "Christmas Day Houston, TX" and "Halftime Show," with the start time of 4:30 PM ET.
On October 20, Netflix revealed two games will air on December 25. Before the Texans and Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs face the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1:00 PM ET.
In a YouTube video from that announcement, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce exclaims, "What a day for some football, baby!" The clip showed in-game moments, enhanced by the festive song "Feliz Navidad." Netflix encouraged viewers, "Huddle up for a new tradition."
Beyoncé's participation follows the omission of Cowboy Carter from the Country Music Association Awards. Despite its March release, it received no nominations for the 2024 CMAs, announced on September 9. While Beyoncé refrained from commenting directly, her fans, the Beyhive, expressed their disappointment loudly.
One user on X suggested, "Beyoncé should host a live show on all platforms during the CMAs." Another added, "The situation has started." Such sentiments highlight fans' support for their idol post-snub.
As Cowboy Carter's release approached, Beyoncé emphasized her entrance into country music. She mentioned the 10-day countdown to Act II on Instagram on March 19, thanking supporters of "Texas Hold ‘Em" and "16 Carriages." She expressed pride in being the first Black woman to achieve a number one single on the Hot Country Songs chart.
