Billy Ray Cyrus ‘Couldn’t Be Prouder’ of Miley Cyrus’ 2025 Grammy Awards Win Amid Family Drama
Billy Ray Cyrus set aside family issues to congratulate Miley Cyrus on her significant achievement at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
Miley, age 32, won the Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Beyoncé for their collaboration, "II Most Wanted," on February 2. Billy Ray, 63, promptly celebrated via social media. He posted, "Congratulations @mileycyrus and @beyonce on their well-deserved @recordingacademy Grammy wins! 🎶 Couldn’t be prouder!!!❤️🎉 🎈," tagging the Recording Academy in his Instagram story.
Miley, who won her first two Grammys in 2024, attended the event with her mother, Tish Cyrus, and boyfriend Maxx Morando. She dazzled on the red carpet in a custom leather Saint Laurent dress featuring skin-baring cutouts. During her on-stage appearance to present the Record of the Year category, Miley wore a striking black Maison Azzedine Alaia gown with a plunging neckline.
This memorable awards show appearance came shortly after Trace Cyrus shared an emotional message expressing concern about Billy Ray. On January 22, Trace, 35, stated, "Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you, but you’ve pushed all of us away. We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew. You’re not healthy, Dad, and everyone is noticing." He also mentioned that his sister, Noah Cyrus, still idolizes their father.
Trace emphasized that his message was "from a place of love." He expressed a desire to help Billy Ray, saying, "I think I have a pretty good idea of what you’re struggling with. I’d love to help you if you would open up." He ended his plea affirming his ongoing prayers for his father.
Billy Ray has not directly responded to Trace’s remarks. In contrast, Braison Cyrus defended their father on social media, asserting that Billy Ray is "happy" and "healthy" after a previous hospitalization.
Trace also claimed that their father was seeking "legal action" against him for voicing concerns publicly. Following this claim, Billy Ray shared a heartfelt message on YouTube Shorts on January 26, stating, "Sunday callin. Giving thanks for the California Rain. Praying for the brokenhearted and their pain. Let this moment be the start of healing ❤️🩹 for us all."
Billy Ray and Tish, aged 57, were married from 1992 until 2022. They had three biological children: Miley, Braison, and Noah, 25, before their separation. Additionally, Billy Ray adopted Tish's children, Brandi and Trace, from previous relationships and shares a son, Christopher Cody, with ex-partner Kristen Luckey. He was briefly married to Australian singer Firerose following his split from Tish.
While Miley and Tish reveled at the Grammy Awards, Billy Ray attended a fundraiser for the Nashville Humane Association on February 1, marking his first public appearance since the inauguration.
