Blake Lively Cherishes Childhood Poster of Baz Luhrmann
Blake Lively recently commemorated her longtime friendship with filmmaker Baz Luhrmann via an Instagram post. As of Sunday, November 3, she expressed her admiration for Luhrmann by sharing the story of a signed poster hanging on her bedroom wall since her teenage years. Lively, 37, noted that the poster remains on display.
In the post, she posted several photos from the recent LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles. Lively dazzled in a captivating Tamara Ralph diamond chainmail minidress, accompanied by a tangerine-orange silk taffeta cape. The gala honored Luhrmann, 62, and artist Simone Leigh.
The actress wrote in her caption, " @bazluhrmann was the first & only signed poster I was ever lucky enough to have on my wall when I was a teenager. It’s still on my wall today. To know him will always be surreal." Among the shared images is one of Lively capturing Luhrmann as he wore her cape, accentuating the casual nature of their interaction.
Blake also shared playful moments, such as putting her arm around Luhrmann while posing together. She enjoyed several laughs as they took selfies, capturing the spirit of her post.
Continuing her tribute, Lively described Luhrmann's playful character. "He’ll grab your hand and run away from the gala with you to do an impromptu photoshoot because he’s inspired by everything," she noted. "Your cape and a palm tree is all he needs to see thrill." She added how he eagerly participates in creative endeavors, including wearing her cape for the shoot.
Lively praised Luhrmann as a source of inspiration, calling him a match to creative joy. "Baz™️ serves as not only your inspiration, your creativity, your possibility, and your unfiltered joy," she emphasized. She also recognized his relationship with wife Catherine Martin, expressing admiration for their intertwined talent and collaboration.
In addition to praising Luhrmann, she applauded artist Leigh for her extraordinary contributions in the caption. The post follows Lively's stunning appearance in a cinematic editorial for Vogue's September 2024 issue, with Luhrmann directing the spread, themed "The Heist of the Heart." In the spread, she starred as "The Cat," collaborating with her husband Ryan Reynolds' good friend, Hugh Jackman, who played L’Ombre.
