Brittany Cartwright Discusses Jax Taylor’s Cocaine Addiction on Their Podcast

Brittany Cartwright opened up about Jax Taylor’s cocaine addiction during the couple’s podcast, "When Reality Hits."
In a Friday, March 7, episode, Cartwright, 36, expressed her deep concern. "No one wants Jax to be better more than I do. I tried for years to support him. I was deeply and madly in love with him, and there’s no denying that," she stated. "After having our son, I focused on ensuring he received needed help."
Cartwright challenged Taylor's narrative regarding his rehab choice. He claimed that seeing their son Cruz, age 3, during a fight spurred his decision. However, Cartwright felt the motivation stemmed from fearing job loss. She noted her disappointment that he didn’t prioritize sobriety for her and their son.
She recounted the distressing incident where Taylor yelled at her in the car en route to Cruz's doctor's appointment. "He started at my throat before a guy even texted me. I was already in tears for at least 30 minutes," she recalled. "I almost left to call an Uber for me and Cruz because it was that bad."

Cartwright described how a text from another man intensified the situation. "He lost it, trying to grab my phone while Cruz was in the backseat. That was horrifying," she recounted. "He reached over to grab my phone, yelling the most horrible things you can say to your ex."
She further expressed difficulties in accepting Taylor's claims of improvement in light of his actions toward her. "This is horrible; he has not changed. He acts like a mental health advocate while making excuses. I am yelling at during these struggles every day," she said. "I felt something needed to change."
Earlier in the week, Taylor, 45, admitted his cocaine addiction during the March 4 episode of Alex Baskin’s "Hot Mic" podcast. "I have substance issues — mostly with cocaine. It’s tough to discuss," Taylor confessed. "I struggled on and off since I was 23 and now I’m 45."

Taylor also mentioned quitting alcohol to help overcome his cocaine dependence. "Many ask if I have an alcohol problem too. I don’t think so, but both issues are linked. I can’t do cocaine without drinking. So, I gave up both," he explained. "I’m proud to say I’m 83 days sober, the longest I’ve ever been without either."
Taylor also provided an exclusive statement to Us Weekly. "For years, I turned to alcohol and drugs to cope with deeper issues," he stated. "This past year has been the hardest yet most transformative of my life. Confronting my mental health challenges and addiction honestly has been crucial for my healing. It’s a day-by-day journey, and I am committed to recovery for a healthier future and to make my son proud."
