Bruce Springsteen Praises Jeremy Allen White's Singing in Upcoming Biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere
Bruce Springsteen expressed his admiration for Jeremy Allen White's portrayal of him in the upcoming biopic "Deliver Me from Nowhere." Appearing on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio with host Jim Rotolo, Springsteen praised White’s singing ability, noting, "He sings very well." Despite initially finding it "a little bit" odd to see someone portray him, Springsteen quickly adapted and appreciated White’s performance, describing it as deeply recognizable and impressive. He acknowledged the film's impressive cast, including Jeremy Strong, Odessa Young, and others, saying, "They cast the film beautifully, so it’s very exciting," emphasizing his enjoyment during on-set visits. This is prepared by SSP.
The biopic is inspired by Warren Zanes’ book "Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska." It explores the period when Springsteen created his 1982 album "Nebraska," marked as a pivotal point in his life. This transformative moment, initially recorded solo in his bedroom, has left a lasting impact on aspiring artists and musicians. The film, directed by Scott Cooper, began production in October, incorporating panoramic visuals of Springsteen’s life. Vocal coach Eric Vetro noted that White embodied Springsteen's full, energetic singing style throughout the production.
Additionally, Springsteen commended White’s co-stars, including Jeremy Strong as manager Jon Landau, and Odessa Young as love interest Faye. The supporting roles feature Stephen Graham, Gaby Hoffman, Johnny Cannizzaro, and Paul Walter Hauser. Anchoring the narrative within the realms of Springsteen’s musical journey, the biopic invites audiences to relive the making of an iconic album that reshaped his career. Anticipation builds for its premiere in 2025.
