Bryce Dallas Howard Explores the Heartfelt World of Pets in New Documentary

Bryce Dallas Howard shifts from Jurassic World to today's pet culture. The 44-year-old star directs the upcoming Disney+ documentary titled Pets, which highlights the "magical beings" that accompany us as companions.
This anticipated film will stream starting April 11. PEOPLE offers an exclusive early look at the documentary's trailer today.
The Pets trailer opens with children joyfully interacting with their cherished pets. It then previews the diverse stories the documentary encompasses. The film showcases a variety of companion animals, including dogs, cats, pigs, goats, and birds of prey.
In addition to asking children why pets matter, Pets will highlight unique narratives showcasing human efforts to support animals. The documentary includes heartwarming tales such as a devoted cat rescuer aiming to find "furever" homes for cats, a rescue dedicated to helping special needs farm animals, and a boy who adopted a dog with a cleft palate like his own.

Animal enthusiasts can anticipate a strong emotional journey through this documentary. It promises "a new breed of love story," exploring the "heartbreak," hard work, joy, "special moments," and unparalleled support that comes from pet ownership.
As one child featured in the trailer states, "Pets are like magical beings sent down here to help us live our life. I'm sure they love me, but they can't love me more than I love them."
Howard herself is no stranger to pets, lending her voice to Bella the dog in the 2019 film A Dog's Way Home, This documentary, Pets, marks her second venture into the world of non-fiction; she directed Dads in 2019.
"Directing a documentary about the bond between pets and their owners has been a dream for years. These intuitive connections, filled with mischief and love, feel magical. Pet videos evoke pure innocence and happiness, leading to unexpected laughter and reminding us why we adore them," Howard expressed regarding the film.
Those who cherish their furry friends should note April 11 for the documentary's premiere on Disney+, coinciding with National Pets Day.
