Callum Kerr of Virgin River Grieves Parents Found Dead in France

Actor Callum Kerr is facing a profound loss as his mother and stepfather were discovered deceased.

Callum Kerr's mother, Dawn Searle, and stepfather, Andrew Searle, were found dead at their residence in Les Pesquies, located south of Villefranche-de-Rouergue, France, on February 6. They are survived by Kerr, 30, his sister, and Andrew's two children from a prior relationship.

A family statement addressing this tragedy was shared on Instagram on February 8. It stated, "At this time, Callum and Amanda Kerr are grieving the loss of their mother, Dawn Searle, while Tom and Ella Searle mourn their father, Andrew Searle." The statement requested privacy for the family and indicated no members would give media interviews.

The official causes of death for 56-year-old Dawn and 62-year-old Andrew have not been disclosed.

Mayor Jean-Sébastien Orcibal of Villefranche-de-Rouergue remarked on the unfortunate event. He recounted, "I was informed around 12:30 PM that two bodies were discovered on their property." Orcibal, along with local law enforcement, secured the area to ensure no suspects remained present. He noted that crime rates in the area were generally low, with only one burglary occurring in recent years.

In 2023, Orcibal officiated the couple's wedding ceremony, during which Callum played a special role. Callum shared a memorable moment on Instagram, stating, "What a pleasure! I love you mum. Congrats to Dawn and Andy on their wonderful wedding day."

Andrew and Dawn both retired to France about ten years ago. Orcibal noted that they aimed to fully immerse themselves in local culture. "Every year they invited over 100 people for a drink at their home," Orcibal added.

They were also known for their friendliness toward others. Orcibal described them as very kind and courteous, recalling their daily walks with their two pedigree dogs along the river.

Local tour company owner Johan Herault shared that this news has come as a "terrible shock." He described both Andrew and Dawn as lovely people, stating, "My wife was very good friends with Dawn." He remarked that, despite the peace of their surroundings, "it doesn’t make any sense."
