Carey Hart Jokes About Being Called an 'Idiot' in His 19-Year Marriage to P!nk
Carey Hart recently shared his insights on his 19-year marriage to the singer P!nk. He humorously mentioned, "I’m at the 19-year mark, so I’m still getting called an idiot." Hart teased that he looks forward to reaching the 35-year milestone when he hopes that perception changes, US Weekly reported.
Though he included a laugh, Hart also offered genuine advice about sustaining a long-term relationship. He emphasized the importance of communication, teamwork, and addressing challenges collaboratively. "Marriage isn’t easy, and it’s always coming back to the table," Hart stated.
Hart, 49, and P!nk, 45, began their journey in 2001 and married in 2006. After a two-year separation, they reconnected in 2010. Their family grew with the birth of daughter Willow in 2011 and son Jameson in 2016.
Hart noted that competitive spirit is prevalent in their relationship. "Everything is a competition, especially with me," he jested, affirming that both he and P!nk embrace a highly competitive nature.
Hart recently participated in the third season of "Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test," admitting it was challenging to be away from his family. "My wife is about to wrap up a two-year tour," he explained, mentioning he transitioned from tour life to training swiftly. He described his absence as a potential welcome break for P!nk but felt the strain of separation.
While training, the thought of home faded as he immersed himself in the rigorous environment. Hart recounted that the intensity and sleep deprivation consumed his focus during training, making doubts and anxieties secondary. "Your nerves are running high, your adrenaline is running high. It was just a full immersion situation," he recalled.
Hart described the hardest aspect of the experience as surrendering control. He explained that relinquishing daily decision-making was shocking. "When you follow the direction of others and go through that experience, that was probably the most shocking piece for me," he said.
Through this intense training, Hart found the strength to push through challenges. He remarked, "It’s easy to throw the towel in when you’re in your everyday life." The consequences heightened those stakes, as he realized quitting would mean sending him home.
