Carice van Houten Addresses Split with Guy Pearce

Carice van Houten has clarified her relationship status with Guy Pearce. The "Game of Thrones" actress shared in her Instagram Story on January 22 that she and Pearce have not been together for several years. This statement follows Pearce’s recent claim that his ex-wife, Kate Mestitz, is the "greatest love" of his life.

Van Houten explained, "I don’t usually engage in discussions about my personal life, but to clarify recent media conclusions regarding my relationship with Guy, I wanted to make something clear." She added a photo of herself with Pearce.

In her statement, van Houten continued, "He and I are great friends who love each other very much, but we haven’t been a ‘couple’ for years. I’m sorry for not mentioning it earlier." She expressed pride in their continued partnership as co-parents, stating, "We are raising the true love of our lives—our beautiful son and his hamster." She referred to their son, Monte, emphasizing their strong bond.

On January 18, Pearce discussed his feelings regarding his ex-wife in an interview with The Guardian. He stated, "My ex-wife, Kate, was the greatest love of my life, but I’ve moved on now. The greatest love of my life is my child, Monte." Pearce also spoke about his past marital challenges, admitting, "I felt like I messed up my marriage," although he no longer feels that way.

Pearce and Mestitz met in 1980 while attending Geelong College in Australia. They married in 1997 but announced their split in January 2015. Pearce shared, "Kate and I will always love and support one another and be the best of friends. No one knows me like Kate does, and we respect one another deeply."

Following his separation from Mestitz, Pearce began a relationship with van Houten. They welcomed their son, Monte, in 2016. Pearce shared the joy of their son’s birth on social media, saying, "A cute little package arrived and told us his name’s Monte Pearce. We think we’re gonna keep him. Placenta smoothie anyone?"
