Chance the Rapper and Kirsten Corley Officially File for Divorce
Chance the Rapper and Kirsten Corley are moving ahead with their divorce. Corley filed to officially end their marriage, according to court records obtained by E! News.
The Grammy-winning rap artist’s estranged wife submitted divorce papers on December 13, ending their nearly six-year union. Both are 31 years old.
They first announced their separation in April through social media. The couple expressed in their statement that they had been taking time apart.
"After a period of separation," the statement read, "we have arrived at the decision to part ways."
Chance and Kirsten share two daughters, Kensli, 9, and Marli, 5. They declared a commitment to co-parenting within their announcement.
"We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time spent together," the post continued. "God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters whom we will continue to raise together."
Chance, whose real name is Chancelor Bennett, met Kristen at a party for his mother's office. They were about 9 years old when they met, he noted on X (formerly Twitter).
After starting their relationship, they welcomed their first daughter, Kensli, in 2015. The following year, Kristen filed a petition to establish child support from Chance, as reported by the Chicago Tribune.
They eventually reconciled and got married in a grand ceremony in 2019 in Newport Beach, California. The wedding featured guests such as Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and Dave Chappelle. They had earlier wed in a civil ceremony in December 2018, according to a marriage certificate at the time.
In 2020, Chance shared how family life profoundly affected him. He expressed gratitude by stating, "I’ve been waking up daily with a newfound gratitude for being married." He emphasized that living together with his daughters and wife is a huge blessing he has cherished.
