Chris O'Donnell Joins 9-1-1 Spinoff Set in Nashville

Chris O'Donnell has been announced as part of the cast for 9-1-1: Nashville. Entertainment Weekly, Variety, and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed his involvement. O'Donnell will play Capt. Don Sharpe in this new ABC series.

O'Donnell's character is a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider. He runs Nashville’s busiest firehouse alongside his beloved son. Described as a devoted husband and family man, Don possesses some hidden secrets, as reported by Variety.
O'Donnell previously starred as Special Agent G. Callen in NCIS: Los Angeles from 2009 to 2023. His role spanned 14 seasons and over 320 episodes. Additionally, he is known for significant roles in Batman Forever, Grey’s Anatomy, and Scent of a Woman.

The spinoff was announced last month and is slated to premiere during the 2025-26 TV season. The series will be overseen by Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear, who co-created the 9-1-1 franchise. 9-1-1: Lone Star showrunner Rashad Raisani and co-creator Brad Falchuk will also serve as executive producers, alongside 9-1-1 star Angela Bassett.
In October 2024, Murphy disclosed to Variety that a new spinoff was in production for the 2025-26 season. He noted that the financial considerations led to the cancellation of Lone Star, which starred Rob Lowe, after five seasons.

Meanwhile, the original 9-1-1 series is currently in its eighth season. This season features stars like Bassett, Peter Krause, and others. Episodes of 9-1-1 season 8 air Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
