Colin Jost Subtly Laughs at SNL Joke Regarding Wife Scarlett Johansson's Marvel Money

A season of Saturday Night Live (SNL) wouldn’t feel complete without a lighthearted joke about Colin Jost's wife, actress Scarlett Johansson.

On December 14's episode, cast member Andrew Dismukes made a joke about Johansson, 40, being the primary earner in her marriage with Jost. Dismukes, 29, appeared as a "bald man" during the "Weekend Update" segment to comment on a recent U.K. ruling regarding harassment towards men experiencing hair loss.

While pretending to clean his hairless head with a towel, Dismukes joked, "You think this is funny, Colin? I got to carry around a little shame in case my head gets wet. [I] dare you to laugh. Love to see your ass in court." He humorously added, "My hairless little hands on some of your wife’s Marvel money!"

Jost, 42, interrupted Dismukes to wrap up the segment, breaking into laughter.

Jost serves as the co-anchor of SNL's "Weekend Update" and has been married to Johansson since 2020. Their meeting occurred on the set of the NBC variety show. Johansson is well-known for her portrayal of Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff in various Marvel films, including 2021’s Black Widow.

In a June 2023 interview with CBS Mornings, Johansson reflected, "We laugh a lot and communicate with one another. I check in often. Colin is introverted; I'm extroverted. The key is simply to ask, ‘How was your day?’"

Johansson is aware that their lives can often become the subject of SNL sketches.

In a July 2021 interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show, she confessed, "I now rarely watch SNL without a slight sense of panic. At any moment, something could fall apart. That feeling adds excitement to SNL, especially for the audience since it’s live."

Moreover, Johansonn noted, "When you’re emotionally invested and not just entertained, it changes the experience."

Along with Dismukes’ subtle reference to Johansson's Marvel earnings, she has been mentioned in other "Weekend Update" segments. Michael Che, Jost’s co-host, frequently includes her name during their annual holiday joke swap on Christmas episodes.
