Dakota Johnson's Trainer Megan Roup Promises Results in Just 10 Minutes a Day

Megan Roup, the founder of The Sculpt Society, believes in the power of short workouts. She says people can see results with just 10 minutes of exercise daily. Dakota Johnson and Miranda Kerr have benefited from her approach.
Roup encourages her clients to focus on less but more consistent exercise. "My philosophy is more about committing to less so that you can show up more," she explained in an exclusive interview at lululemon's GlowUp Studio in New York City. Instead of lengthy workouts, she prefers clients, including Johnson, Sabrina Carpenter, and Elsa Hosk, to practice for 10 minutes each day.
Her method helps build a lasting habit. This way, future workouts do not feel like a daunting task. "You build the habit," Roup elaborates. "It doesn’t feel like you’re trapped in a never-ending cycle of needing to do hours every day." With this routine, clients can enjoy mental and physical results, reminiscent of the daily practice of brushing teeth.

Roup has personally struggled with maintaining her fitness. She learned that intense fitness journeys are not necessary. It’s about creating sustainable routines. As a working mom of two, she often finds time limited. "Sometimes I don’t have 20 minutes," she admits. "If I can just do a five or 10-minute video in the morning, I feel grounded. This boosts my resilience."
Her sculpting and dance cardio-based sessions have gained popularity. Graduating from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Roup's following includes Shay Mitchell and Miranda Kerr. Much of her appeal lies in her approachable fitness philosophy.
When preparing Johnson for the Madame Web project, Roup discussed building endurance. "We focused on 30- to 45-minute sessions. On set, we shifted to shorter sessions, sending her 20-minute workouts." Roup tailors workouts for each client's situation, whether they have a full gym or are in a hotel room.

Her approach varies between clients, depending on their preferences. "I have clients who prefer low-impact or a mix of cardio and sculpt," Roup noted. Ensuring enjoyment during workouts is essential for commitment. If someone dislikes cardio, she modifies the plan: "We’ll create a low-impact option that still elevates the heart rate."
Roup emphasizes the significance of just showing up. Dressing the part can make workouts less daunting. She aims to wear outfits from Lululemon's Glow Up line, noting, "If you’re in an outfit that you feel confident in, your experience feels better."
