Dennis Quaid Opens Up About Los Angeles Wildfires
Dennis Quaid shared his emotional experience regarding the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. The actor described his recent evacuation from his home in Brentwood, California, expressing both gratitude for his safety and sorrow for those affected.
Quaid, 70, recounted his evacuation. He stated, "I had it lucky," despite the chaos surrounding him. He explained, "We woke up to this big plume of smoke." He mentioned an alarming day when the situation escalated in the Palisades area. Quaid noted, "It came within 150 yards of the house." He praised the heroic efforts of aerial firefighters who dropped retardant and the skilled helicopter pilots, saying, "They’re incredible in what they do." He emphasized his gratitude toward local firefighters and first responders, stating, "We got some good ones, good people here."
With deep concern for his friends and neighbors, Quaid said, "We’re fighting as hard as we can to save our city." He reflected on his luck in the evacuation zone, mentioning, "We were on the edge of the first evacuation zone." Despite his own fortune, Quaid mentioned the impact on his friends. "My agent lost both of his houses," he revealed, "and another good friend in Palisades lost both homes." He voiced the difficulty in thinking about rebuilding. "What do you do, just to rebuild?" he questioned, contemplating the extensive process of constructing a new home.
Quaid is among many celebrities who have spoken out after the recent wildfires resultant of devastating events that commenced on January 7. Approximately 80,000 individuals have faced displacement. On January 8, Quaid reflected on the bravery of the firefighters, stating, "I can't say enough about the firefighters who have been here." He remarked their efforts have had a significant impact as they combated the flames.
Reflecting on the experience, Quaid shared, "I've been through several fires here in California in my 45 years, and this is the worst one, bar none."
