Diplo Reveals He’s on LSD During CNN NYE Special: ‘It’s Like a Light Trip’

On New Year's Eve Live with Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper, DJ Diplo, 46, made headlines. He disclosed to the shocked hosts that he was currently under the influence of LSD while appearing via video link. This revelation came during the special on December 31, PEOPLE reported.

In a video shared by Pop Crave on X (formerly Twitter), Cohen, 56, posed an intriguing question. "What’s the most conventional place that you’ve done LSD?" Diplo candidly responded, "Right now." Cohen's reaction was shock, while Cooper, 57, laughed heartily.

Diplo continued, saying he had used LSD on his helicopter ride to the event. "I’m not even lying," he emphasized, further causing Cooper to laugh uproariously. When Cohen wanted clarification, Diplo confirmed, "Yeah, but it’s like a light trip." He explained that he was "microdosing" and may have "macrodosed" earlier.

Following the bizarre segment, Cooper complimented Diplo’s seemingly carefree lifestyle. "I wish I was Diplo," he said, expressing admiration for the fun nature of the DJ's daily life. Cooper acknowledged he had not followed Diplo on social media before but planned to start, feeling his life paled in comparison to Diplo’s adventurous escapades.

Cohen added to the conversation about Diplo’s party persona, remarking that although he seemed lively and energetic while they spoke, he himself was ready for sleep after just a few drinks.

While appearing on the NYE special, Diplo also entertained audiences with his performances in Los Angeles that evening. He shared several videos on Instagram Stories showcasing his shows at Avalon Hollywood, maintaining an energetic demeanor despite his earlier claims.

Diplo’s candid admission about his LSD use occurred shortly after he characterized his task of creating TikTok content as "cringey." In a June 19 interview with The Wall Street Journal, he explained that while effective creators like Doja Cat and Lil Nas X thrive on the app, he finds it challenging due to his age. "I'm 45. I always think it's pretty cringey what I'm doing," he admitted.
