Dorinda Medley Reflects on Her Early Exit from The Traitors
Dorinda Medley’s appearance on "The Traitors" was brief, yet it left a strong impression on fans. Despite her early elimination, Medley expressed enjoyment over the uproar generated by her exit. She remarked during her January 20 interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, "If you are going to get ‘murdered’ early on, I did it right." The reaction from viewers overwhelmed her.
At 60 years old, Dorinda was eliminated in just the second episode of "The Traitors" season 3, which premiered on January 9. Her unexpected removal shocked both host Jimmy Fallon and her followers. "I went to Rise, a gay bar on Ninth Avenue, and the homage I received was incredible," she shared. "Some people believed I actually died! They treated me like I was Jesus Christ who had risen. It was beautiful. I said, ‘I didn’t really die in Scotland.’"
Even though her time on the show was short, Medley faced a rigorous secret-keeping ordeal for six months before the show aired. With filming taking place last June, she reflected, "You’re really in the mindset. You’re so frightened to say a word." Medley recounted how fans eagerly approached her, saying, "I can’t wait to see you on *Traitors*! I’m sure you’re going to be great!" She felt relieved when her "murder" finally aired.
To prepare for the challenges on "The Traitors," Dorinda immersed herself in strategy by reading "The Art of War" twice. "I prepared like I was genuinely going to war," she emphasized, mentioning that she took detailed notes rather than using summaries. Additionally, she studied influential philosophers like Nietzsche. Medley showcased her dedication by covering her room with poster boards detailing her daily strategies.
Medley also expressed disappointment over her inability to showcase her planned outfits on the show due to her early exit. "I had the best clothes," she lamented, stating that after the elimination, she "slithered back" to New York City with an impressive 15 suitcases. In a prior interview with Glamour, she excitedly highlighted her wardrobe: "I had the best outfits ever," including vintage Vivienne Westwood and a collection from Prada, Libertine, and Burberry. "Unfortunately, I didn’t get to wear any of them. The shoe situation was out of control," she added.
New episodes of "The Traitors" are available for streaming on Thursday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Peacock.
