Drew Barrymore Reflects on a Bold Move Regarding Her Cheating Ex
Drew Barrymore does not play games when it comes to her heart. On January 13, during her daytime talk show, she shared a striking story while chatting with SZA. The two celebrities discussed relationships, inspiration, and their personal experiences.
Barrymore, 49, recalled a time decades ago when she discovered her ex-boyfriend's infidelity. "I found out my ex-boyfriend was cheating on me. I took all of his things and placed them in his car. Then I rolled his car down the driveway, left it there, and walked away," she described.
However, Barrymore didn’t stop there. She arranged for the woman her ex was seeing to join them for drinks, with her ex present. "You're going to sit here and listen to us talk! So shut up and listen!" Barrymore recalled instructing him. Afterward, she drove him home and told him, "Now get out." She added, "By the way, he's a dear friend now. We were young and stupid; I did dumb things too!"
SZA, 35, praised Barrymore’s fiery response, saying, "That wasn't stupid, that was fire. I'm deeply inspired." Barrymore shared, "I'll teach you all my old tricks because they work — all my ex-boyfriends are dear friends."
SZA humorously commented on Barrymore’s cheerful demeanor while telling her ex to exit the car. Although Barrymore kept her ex's identity private, she expressed a later reconciliation: "Listen, we were just kids. I made mistakes too, and we loved each other. Can we still be in each other’s lives?"
SZA didn’t share the same sentiment about her experiences, saying, "It's too fresh for me." To this, Barrymore responded, "Maybe after some time. Time heals." SZA lightheartedly replied, "No, it doesn’t. Time passes, baby!"
With laughter, Barrymore concluded, "We need more of each other in our lives." The film "One of Them Days" is set to release in theaters on January 17.
