Ed Sheeran addressed the crowd after police abruptly ended his surprise street concert in Bengaluru on February 9, 2025. The "Bad Habits" singer had planned this event and claimed to have received "permission" beforehand, PEOPLE reported.
Sheeran took to his Instagram Stories after videos circulated on social media showing the conclusion of his performance. He conveyed to his followers that everything was "all good," explaining the situation. "We had permission to busk, hence our playing in that exact spot was planned out. It wasn’t random," he clarified. He reassured fans, saying, "All good though… See ya at the show tonight x."
During his recent visit to Bengaluru, Sheeran treated fans to two performances on February 8 and 9 as part of his international Mathematics tour. In the fan-captured videos, he performed "Shape of You," decked in casual shorts, a T-shirt, and sunglasses. The simple setup included only a microphone stand and his acoustic guitar against a mural. Enthusiastic fans sang along until a police officer approached, unplugging his microphone.
As the situation unfolded, two men attempted to reason with the officer, but the intervention was unsuccessful. While Sheeran tried to continue performing, he eventually smiled and shrugged when the mic cut off. "We had permission to do this, but this policeman is shutting it down," he informed the crowd in another video.

Despite the abrupt halt to his performance, fans enjoyed the surprise concert. One person remarked on social media, "Went for a casual walk and stumbled upon Ed Sheeran performing live. What a city!"
Later that day, Sheeran shared a image from what appeared to be the backstage green room before his second show in Bengaluru, captioning it "Night 2."
Throughout his tour in India, Sheeran showcased his experiences on Instagram, including his first sitar lesson with Megha Rawoot, calling her "a great teacher." He enthusiastically jammed, strumming the sitar while singing "Shape of You."
In his post titled "India dump 2," Sheeran documented his adventures including sightseeing, spending time with England's cricket team, and collaborating with Grammy-winning composer A. R. Rahman.
Recently, Sheeran made headlines as the first international artist to perform in Bhutan. He expressed gratitude to the volunteers who facilitated the historical concert, noting, "What a gig, what a country, what a beautiful place with incredible people."
