Eva Longoria and Meryl Streep: A Family Reunion

Eva Longoria, known for her role in "Desperate Housewives," discovered a surprising family connection to Meryl Streep in 2010. While participating in Henry Louis Gates, Jr.'s docuseries "Faces of America," Longoria learned that she is distantly related to the acclaimed actress.
During a March 19 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Longoria recounted their first encounter post-discovery. She spotted Streep in a green room at an awards event. A friend encouraged her to approach Streep and discuss their relation. Longoria hesitated, saying, "I'm not gonna go up to Meryl Streep and say we're cousins."

Suddenly, she heard Streep calling out, "Cousin! Cousin!" in her direction. Longoria exclaimed, "Oh my God!" They exchanged compliments, with Longoria saying, "Clearly you got the talent in the family," to which Streep replied, "Clearly you got the beauty." Longoria humorously suggested, "So Meryl's Latina," which prompted laughter from Jimmy Fallon.
Recently, Longoria and Streep reunited on the set of "Only Murders in the Building." Streep made her debut in the Hulu series' third season playing Loretta Durkin. Meanwhile, Longoria portrays a fictional version of herself in the fourth season.

In June 2024, when speaking with "DuJour," Longoria shared that during a Zoom table read, Streep introduced her as her cousin. "She tells the story and everyone’s so confused," Longoria noted, "because I’m the most Latina person in the industry and she’s Meryl Streep."
During her time on "Only Murders in the Building," Longoria humorously linked her role on "Desperate Housewives" to the legalization of gay marriage. She enjoyed working alongside a star-studded cast that included Eugene Levy, Paul Rudd, and Melissa McCarthy. Longoria expressed her excitement on set, stating, "I was pinching [myself]. Every day there was another comedy icon."
