Five Individuals Charged in Connection with Liam Payne's Tragic Death
Reports indicate that multiple individuals face charges related to Liam Payne’s death at 31. According to an Argentine news source, five people have been charged in connection with the case. Among those charged is Payne's friend, Roger Nores, who faces manslaughter charges. Other individuals include Esteban Grassi, a receptionist at CasaSur Palermo Hotel, and Gilda Martin, the hotel’s head of security. Braian Paiz, a waiter, and Ezequiel Pereyra, another employee at the hotel, are also charged for allegedly providing drugs to Payne.
In November, earlier reports noted three charges connected to Payne’s death. The prosecutor’s office revealed that those individuals were charged with abandonment leading to death along with the supply and facilitation of narcotics. A comprehensive 180-page indictment detailed significant attempts to reconstruct Payne’s final days at the CasaSur Hotel. Investigations included nine raids in Buenos Aires City and testimonies acquired from hotel staff, friends, family members, and medical professionals. More than 800 hours of security footage and public camera recordings were scrutinized. Prosecutors reportedly found "clear evidence" of narcotic supply instances during Payne's Hotel stay between October 13-16.
Liam Payne was discovered dead on October 16 after falling from a third-floor hotel balcony. A preliminary autopsy indicated "multiple traumas" caused his death, citing hemorrhages in his chest, skull, and abdomen. Reports also indicated the presence of several drugs in his system, with the case not ruled a suicide.
Nores previously addressed his alleged involvement in Payne’s death. He shared with the Daily Mail that he "never abandoned" Payne. "Over 15 people were in the hotel lobby chatting with him when I left. I couldn’t predict this tragedy would follow," he lamented.
Earlier this month, he lodged a complaint claiming CasaSur Palermo Hotel failed to safeguard Payne during his stay. The document claimed the hotel neglected to provide a 24-hour doctor for a globally recognized individual who appeared to be in a crisis from drug use. Nores asserted that hotel management knew Payne was intoxicated, arguing for the need for medical presence upon the singer's check-in.
In another court filing reviewed by Rolling Stone, Nores discussed Payne’s drug history, insisting, "I loved him and helped him selflessly to the best of my ability." He expressed his feelings regarding the accusations aimed at him, stating, "I do not believe I deserved such allegations."
Nores revealed that Payne faced a near-fatal incident in September 2023, resulting in hospitalization in Milan, with apprehensions regarding subsequent hospitalizations in London. "Resuscitation maneuvers were required to save him, yet friends and family could do nothing to prevent these occurrences," he explained.
One month after his passing, Liam Payne was laid to rest in England. He is remembered by his parents, sisters, and his son, Bear, with whom he shared a life with ex-partner Cheryl Cole.
