Google Photos Facilitates Hiding Unwanted Faces in Memories for Enhanced Privacy
Google Photos, one of the most popular photo storage and sharing platforms, is reportedly working on an update to make hiding individuals from memories easier for its users. Memories, a feature that presents users with a collection of nostalgic photo collages, often includes unexpected faces that some users may want to keep secret. Google Photos is addressing this concern by introducing a new feature that allows users to directly hide a face from a photo's details page.
Earlier, excluding specific individuals from memories required navigating through multiple menus, creating a cumbersome process. However, with this significant upgrade, Google Photos aims to streamline the process, making it simpler and more intuitive. The update is expected to be released in the coming months, although an official announcement from Google regarding the release date is yet to be made.
To hide particular individuals from memories, users can access Google Photos' settings, go to Preferences > Memories, and select "Hide people and pets." Enabling this option ensures that those specific individuals will not appear in memories, creations, or search results. A recent APK teardown indicates that users can now hide faces by opening a photo, swiping to the Metadata section, and clicking on the three dots in the People section. From there, users will have the option to hide the face, either reducing their appearance frequency or completely preventing them from showing up in any photo memories.
With this upcoming feature, Google Photos aims to give users greater control over their memories, allowing them to selectively showcase the moments they truly want to preserve and share. While an official release date is yet to be confirmed, users can expect this welcomed update in the near future. Google Photos continues to improve its platform to provide a seamless and personalized user experience.
