Gracie Abrams Responds to Petition to Replace Dora Jar as Tour Opener

Gracie Abrams has publicly addressed a petition urging her to change the opening act for her upcoming tour, calling it "so wildly uncool and bizarre." The petition arose after Jar, whose real name is Dora Jarkowski, was announced as the opening act for Abrams’ European and U.K. tour set for February and March.
The petition appeared on Change.org soon after Jar's announcement on January 24, stating that many fans, including the creator, felt baffled by the choice. According to Billboard, the petition’s creator, Dexter Morgan, wrote, "We are perplexed as we do not recognize her," and mentioned the challenge of getting accustomed to Jar's slower-paced music so close to the tour dates. Morgan further suggested that a more energetic artist would better suit the role of opening for Abrams.
In response to the petition, Abrams instantly shared her thoughts in an Instagram comment on a post from Stereogum. She expressed her surprise at the backlash and affirmed her pride in sharing the stage with Jar. "I’ve only seen everyone’s total excitement, and I couldn’t be luckier," Abrams wrote. She encouraged fans to stream Jar’s music to familiarize themselves regardless of whether they were attending the shows.
On January 26, Abrams reaffirmed her support for Jar by resharing her previous comment on her Instagram Stories. She wrote, "I am so excited to share a stage with this gem of an artist. Love you Dora ❤️." Jar addressed the petition the same day, revealing her upbeat outlook regarding the situation. In a post on X, she welcomed all fans while advising those less interested to enjoy the merchandise.

In a lighthearted twist, she humorously claimed to have "signed the petition" but was still rehearsing just in case she remained as the opener. Jar acknowledged the mixed reactions she faced, mentioning during another post that despite the negativity that comes with the job, the positive feedback from her new fans has overwhelmed her.
Jar's momentous opportunity to open for Abrams is special to her, referring to it as a "pinch me" moment. She expressed excitement about the tour and the chance to perform alongside the talented singer. Jar begins the tour on February 8 in Madrid and will travel through various parts of Europe, culminating in the U.K. with several performances, closing in Glasgow on March 12.
