Karen Gillan is now a mother!
The actress from "Guardians of the Galaxy," age 37, announced her first child. On January 2, 2024, Gillan shared the news through Instagram. She welcomed a baby girl, sharing joy about little Clementine. "2024 thank you for giving us Clementine 🍊," she wrote, sharing adorable photos of her newborn for the first time.
One image shows Gillan cradling her daughter as she rests on her mother's shoulder. Another photo captures husband Nick Kocher holding their baby. A third image features the new parents with mugs stating "Best Dad Ever" and "Best Mom Ever."
Gillan also humorously mentioned, "I shot a film called ‘Let’s Have Kids’ right as I got preggo in real life so take that, Daniel Day-Lewis." The final slide in her post reveals her on the film set, positioned at the foot of a bed where someone is about to give birth.
Gillan publicly showcased her baby bump at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. She wore a striking yellow bodycon dress while posing with her "Life of Chuck" co-stars, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Tom Hiddleston, at the Prince of Wales Theatre.
In May 2022, she married Kocher at Castle Toward in Scotland, keeping the marriage under wraps for some time. During a 2023 segment on "Live With Kelly and Mark," Gillan recounted their introduction via social media. The couple met when she discovered him through Instagram's recommended friends list.
"I DMed him on Twitter saying, 'Hi, your tweets are really funny. I’m Karen, by the way,’" she revealed. "It wasn’t very interesting. I hadn’t really read his tweets."
Although the couple tends to maintain their privacy, Gillan shared a humorous anecdote from filming "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3." She attended a couples therapy session in full Nebula makeup, highlighting the busy schedules the couple manages.
"In honor of Guardians of the Galaxy in theaters Friday, here’s a screenshot of the time I forgot I had scheduled a COUPLES THERAPY session on a day we were shooting," she posted on X, capturing the amusing mix of her on-screen and off-screen lives.
