Gypsy Rose Blanchard Celebrates Postpartum Body One Week Post-Birth
Gypsy Rose Blanchard has recently updated her fans about her journey into motherhood.
On January 3, Blanchard, 33, shared a photo of her postpartum body on her Instagram Story. She noted, "Almost a week postpartum. Feeling more energized."
Blanchard and her partner, Ken Urker, welcomed a daughter named Aurora on December 28. Following the birth, Urker announced the joyful news on Instagram on January 1. He expressed, "Welcoming 2025 with the greatest gift of all 👼," posting a photo that included himself, Blanchard, and their newborn in the hospital.
The birth occurred in Blanchard’s home state of Louisiana. Urker later told TMZ, "Aurora is healthy and we are so happy."
Reflecting on her past, Blanchard was released in December 2022 after serving nearly nine years in prison. This followed her guilty plea to second-degree murder in the death of her mother, Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard.
During this time, Nicholas Godejohn, who was Gypsy's boyfriend, conspired with her to kill Dee Dee, resulting in Godejohn stabbing her to death. Godejohn pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, receiving a life sentence.
Dee Dee is thought to have suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a mental health disorder where caregivers falsely claim someone they care for is ill. Throughout her childhood, Gypsy believed she had various ailments, including leukemia and muscular dystrophy, and was led to think she needed a feeding tube and wheelchair.
The story was further explored in the 2017 documentary "Mommy Dead and Dearest," as well as the Hulu limited series "The Act," where Gypsy was portrayed by actress Joey King.
In 2018, while still incarcerated, Gypsy and Urker became engaged. However, they separated in 2019. Gypsy married Ryan Anderson in July 2022 during her imprisonment. Their wedding was intimate, lacking guests.
After her release in December 2023, Gypsy announced her split from Anderson, officially filing for divorce in March 2024.
In July 2024, she confirmed that she was pregnant with Urker. "I know the rumors have been flying around for quite some time now, and I’m happy to announce that I am 11 weeks pregnant," she stated in a YouTube video. "Ken and I are expecting our very first child come January 2025."
Earlier, SSP wrote that Vanessa Williams remembered her mother Helen following her passing.
