Gypsy-Rose Blanchard Gets Emotional Recalling First Post-Prison Birthday
Gypsy-Rose Blanchard reflected emotionally on her first birthday celebration after being released from prison. During an appearance on The Viall Files podcast on Wednesday, October 16, Blanchard, who was freed on December 28, 2023, after serving eight years for her involvement in her mother Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard's murder, shared why this particular birthday was so meaningful. This is prepared by SSP.
When asked by host Nick Viall about her favourite festive day since her release, Blanchard mentioned her birthday on July 27. "Technically, it’s not a holiday, but past birthdays have been tough. In prison, my birthdays were marked only by paper cards from cellmates," she recounted with emotion.
This year, her father Rod, stepmother Kristy Blanchard, and family threw a small lunch in her honor. She also enjoyed a fancy dinner at the Ritz Carlton with Ken Urker, where she humorously ordered just french fries and a Caesar salad. "Ken made the day incredibly special," she remembered fondly, noting that he went the extra mile by baking her a cake, even remaking it after burning the first batch.
Despite the restrictive environment, Blanchard credited her time in prison with helping her understand her real age. "Finally knowing it allowed me to celebrate aging properly," she explained quietly. For someone who survived Munchausen syndrome by proxy, each celebration now holds profound importance and a sense of normalcy.
