Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt Lose Family Home to Pacific Palisades Fire
Heidi Montag is focusing on being grateful after a fire destroyed her family's home in Los Angeles. Montag and her husband, Spencer Pratt, lost their property when flames spread through Pacific Palisades on January 7. The couple, along with their two sons, Gunner and Ryker, managed to evacuate safely that day.
Montag, 38, described the panic of preparing for a fire in an Instagram video. She said, "When you’re packing for a fire, your brain just freaks out. You think, ‘What do I need? What do I not need?’ It’s overwhelming to pack up a house." She reflected on how she packed only a few clothes for herself but had packed much more for her children.
In tears, Montag shared her concern, asking, "Why didn’t I grab more?" She emphasized gratitude and safety, saying, "The main thing is that we’re safe. Thank God we have our health and our children." She mentioned her hope for others affected and expressed the mixed emotions she felt, explaining, "It just kind of comes in waves."
Earlier that day, Pratt, 41, posted a powerful message, stating, "The one positive sign I saw as our house burned down was our son’s bed burned in the shape of a heart." He shared Ring camera footage of the nursery, highlighting the love that filled their home.
Stephanie Pratt, Spencer’s sister, was the first to confirm the news. She shared her confusion on Instagram, saying, "I can’t think straight. My little nephews must be so scared and confused watching their house disappear." She expressed how deeply heartbroken she felt for her brother and their family.
Stephanie mentioned only being able to watch as their father tried to save their home but was unable because of strong winds. She shared the devastation, noting, "Even the fire station in the Palisades has burned down." Their parents also evacuated safely shortly before watching their house burn via security camera footage.
In his Instagram story on January 8, Spencer mourned, sharing, "My parent’s house gone," alongside an image of the rubble, expressing his grief with crying emojis. The tragedy affected the entire family deeply, underscoring the loss they shared.
