Hilaria Baldwin on Her Unique Bond with Stepdaughter Ireland

Hilaria Baldwin recently shared insights about her relationship with stepdaughter Ireland, emphasizing their 11-year age gap. During the March 23 episode of 'The Baldwins', Hilaria, age 41, candidly discussed this dynamic.

She described their relationship as "unique for a stepmom and stepdaughter" situation. Despite the age difference, Hilaria highlighted how they both find humor in it: "I'm 11 years older than her. I didn't raise her, and we find tremendous humor in that," she explained.

Hilaria elaborated on how their dynamic changed when they welcomed children only months apart. Hilaria gave birth to daughter Ilaria in September 2022. Ireland, now 29, welcomed baby Holland in May 2023.

"I haven't seen Ireland in a long time because we live far apart, and we both had babies," she noted. Hilaria expressed delight in finally getting their kids together for a play date. "It’s wonderful because we were pregnant together," she shared. Ilaria is now almost nine months older than Holland, creating a unique aunt-niece scenario for their families.

Hilaria praised Ireland's warm welcome into the family, emphasizing her desire not to disrupt. She recalled discussions with Alec Baldwin before they married, expressing that if Ireland didn’t accept her, she wouldn’t join their family. "I have too much respect for the family," she remarked.

Fortunately, Ireland accepted her wholeheartedly. Hilaria expressed gratitude for a smooth relationship. "We’ve never fought," she said, appreciating Ireland's amiable nature throughout their journey.

Reflecting on their family's past, Hilaria noted, "I got very lucky," as she became part of their lives when they had already moved on from previous struggles.

Hilaria also acknowledged the importance of respecting Ireland's relationship with her biological mother, Kim Basinger. "My job wasn't to come in and parent," she stated.

Back in 2019, Hilaria shared how she navigated her relationship with Ireland's family. "We have had a great relationship," she reported. She chose to maintain boundaries about past family issues, underscoring respect above all: "I’m here if they need me," she affirmed.

Based on their mutual understanding, Hilaria articulated that timing was important in forming bonds. Explaining her rational approach, she noted, "Love is also timing and situation." The context was right when she became part of Alec and Ireland’s family.

In discussions about stepping into relationships, Hilaria echoed the notion of respect: "If this is not okay, I’m not gonna stay."
