Hoda Kotb Launches New Venture After Departing Today
Hoda Kotb, former coanchor of Today, revealed her new venture during her January 6 appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. She announced her departure from the show in September after 17 successful years.
As she prepares for her final Today show on January 10, Kotb shared that she is developing a wellness app and company. This initiative will include retreats and a podcast. Kotb expressed her passion for creating experiences where participants can feel transformed. "It’s not like going to Mexico with your girls, which is fun, but this is something where you'll say, ‘Oh my gosh. I feel transformed. I feel different,’" she shared.
At 60 years old, Kotb acknowledged that while she is still in the development phase of her company, initial doubts about wellness activities lingered. "I started with stuff I thought seemed woo-woo and weird," she explained. However, she felt a positive change through these practices. "Wait, I feel calmer. I feel better. Woo-woo makes you feel good," Kotb stated.
In addition to her wellness projects, Kotb is committed to spending quality time with her daughters, Haley Joy, 7, and Hope Catherine, 5. She expressed excitement about participating in local activities, like the 5:30 Soul Cycle class. "Then I’ll head home, feed my kids breakfast, and make a coffee to go in my Yeti," she told E! News in October. Kotb added that walking her children to school is a cherished routine, saying she will "kiss them goodbye" during that special time.
Moreover, Kotb's children played a significant role in her choice to leave Today. "Obviously, I had my kiddos late in life," she explained in her September announcement. "They deserve a bigger piece of my time pie. I feel like we only have a finite amount of time."
