How Backstreet Boys Collaborated with Britney Spears on "Matches"

Backstreet Boys, comprised of Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell, and Howie Dorough, teamed up with Britney Spears in 2020. Their collaboration resulted in "Matches," a dramatic electro-pop track featured on the deluxe version of her album "Glory," PEOPLE reported.
Both artists had recorded versions of "Matches" prior to the official release. However, none were keen to publish it until a timely suggestion arose from their label during the COVID pandemic. Dorough recalls, "The label came and said, ‘What about us doing a mashup with the two of you guys on this record?’" The group agreed, acknowledging their longstanding connection through Jive Records.
Additionally, the Backstreet Boys shared details about their planned residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, which will commence in July. Titled "Into the Millennium," the show will celebrate their popular 1999 album, "Millennium." Dorough comments about performing alongside peers, expressing, "It made sense for us to do it."
The band’s previous Vegas residency proved to be an "unbelievable experience." They waited for the right opportunity to return, bringing a fresh perspective to a classic record. Dorough explains, "We’re taking our fans, some of whom weren’t even born yet, and introducing them to these songs."

To prepare for this latest endeavor, the band is finalizing visual concepts. They recently went on a "scouting trip" to see the Eagles and intend to draw inspiration from that experience. As Richardson states, "Hearing ‘Hotel California’ live blew my mind. The possibilities are endless, and we’re in full creative mode right now."

Excitement surrounds this new journey. Richardson asserts, "After 30 years in this business, something like this reignites your passion and inspires you, so we’re stoked." The band's eagerness is palpable as they embark on this thrilling chapter.
