Ice Cube Shares Insight into His 32-Year Marriage with Kimberly Woodruff: 'You've Got to Want It'
Ice Cube and Kimberly Woodruff celebrate their 32nd wedding anniversary on November 28, sharing four children: O'Shea Jr., Darrell, Kareema, and Shareef. Married since 1992, Ice Cube reflects on achieving marital longevity with his wife Kimberly, PEOPLE reported. During an episode of Cam Newton's podcast "Funky Friday," the 55-year-old rapper-actor discussed the importance of mutual desire in marriage: "We want to be married. You’ve got to want it. I don’t want anyone else to have my woman."
The couple knows that not every day can be perfect, and their strong bond helps navigate life's ups and downs. Addressing unrealistic expectations in relationships, Ice Cube remarked, "You don’t like your mama every day. Some days she gets on your nerves. Not every day will be roses, and you can’t expect that from your spouse."
In discussing marriage, Newton echoed this sentiment, emphasizing how significant it is to remain committed to one's partner: "You can’t honestly say, ‘Every single day I wake up and it’s doves flying.’" Ice Cube emphasized it's about whether a pair truly wants to coalesce as a family, dedicated to giving time, effort, and love to each other.
Last November, in a nod to their enduring relationship, Ice Cube posted nostalgic photos of their wedding and life together on Instagram, saying, "31 years of marriage. 34 years of love. Happy Anniversary." Reflecting on his first attraction to Woodruff, Ice Cube confessed: "When I first saw her, I thought she could or should be my woman." Although initially uninterested, she turned him down in favor of someone else, but destiny eventually reveled in bringing them together months later, after which they remained inseparable.
