Inside Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie’s Reported Royal Family Christmas Plans
Princess Beatrice’s Christmas plans have changed. Reports suggest she will skip the annual royal family celebrations. According to Hello! Magazine, she and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will go to Sandringham. Doctors advised her against long-distance travel as she nears the end of her pregnancy.
Beatrice will join Edoardo, their 2-year-old daughter Sienna, and his 8-year-old son Wolfie at Sandringham. This visit adds a new tradition; Beatrice and Edoardo will also take part in the family’s Sandringham walkabout.
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will not spend Christmas with the royal family at Sandringham this year. Both princesses will celebrate the holidays with their in-laws instead. This marks the first time they spend the holiday away from their royal relatives since their marriages.
Beatrice has been married to Edoardo since July 2020. They share a daughter, Sienna, and are expecting their second child. Edoardo, 41, also has an 8-year-old son, Wolfie, from a previous relationship with Dara Huang. Eugenie, married to Jack Brooksbank in 2018, is the mother of sons August, 3, and Ernest, 18 months.
Like many royal families, Beatrice and Eugenie have traditionally celebrated Christmas at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England. The sole exception was during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Moreover, Beatrice and Eugenie’s parents will not attend Christmas at Sandringham either. The decision follows reports concerning Prince Andrew’s alleged connections to a businessman accused of espionage. The Duke of York states he "ceased all contact" with this individual and claimed they only met through official channels.
The accused, referred to as H6, faced a ban from the U.K. in 2023. Reports indicated he attempted to gain Prince Andrew's influence and even attended his birthday party in 2020. The Chinese embassy in the U.K. denied the espionage claims. A spokesperson emphasized that some individuals in the U.K. create baseless "spy" stories about China.
Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the incident, given Andrew's status as a non-working royal. He lost his title and withdrew from royal duties in 2020 after facing allegations of sexual misconduct. Although Andrew denied these claims, he settled the lawsuit out of court in 2022.
While Andrew is no longer a working royal, Beatrice has increased her public responsibilities. Recently, she represented King Charles III at The King’s Foundation’s Future Textiles exhibition in London, meeting with foundation leaders and students.
