Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence Feels Grateful After Scary Hit Against Texans
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence updated his fans following a head injury on Sunday, December 1. He expressed gratitude in a tweet, stating, "Thank you to everyone who has reached out / been praying for me. I’m home and feeling better. Means a lot, thank you all🙌🏻."
The positive message came hours after Lawrence suffered a tough hit from Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair at EverBank Stadium in Florida. Following the tackle, Lawrence stayed on the ground for several minutes before being carted off. Due to a concussion, Lawrence was ruled out for the remainder of the game, which led to a brawl between the two teams on the field. Two Jaguars players, tight end Evan Engram and cornerback Jarrian Jones, alongside Al-Shaair, were ejected from the game.
Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson discussed the "unfortunate" incident, saying, "It’s a play that nobody wants to see in our league." He noted how events escalated afterward, calling the situation regrettable. Pederson also reassured fans, stating, "I’m just glad that Trevor’s going to be fine. He’ll obviously be in the protocol, but it just is an unfortunate play."
After the game, Lawrence was seen leaving the locker room with his wife, Marissa Mowry. She voiced gratitude for the fans’ support on social media, stating, "Thank you for all the texts and prayers." She emphasized the importance of ensuring Lawrence’s health before anything else.
The couple tied the knot in April 2021 and announced in June that they are expecting their first child. Lawrence previously confessed to Us Weekly about his aspirations to become a father. He revealed, "I don’t know when that’s gonna be. I think we’re gonna wait a little while. We’ve really just enjoyed not having the responsibility of having kids [right now]." He indicated that starting a family is a future goal.
Lawrence met Marissa in fifth grade, and they began dating seriously in high school. Their relationship experienced ups and downs, but Lawrence felt "pretty confident" he found "The One." He shared, "It’s fun to have your person with you through all the different stuff that we’ve gone through." He added, "I’ve known her for a long time… it’s been really awesome just to, like, get to know her more and more. I wouldn’t trade that for anything."
