Jamie Foxx Shares His Survival Story After Medical Crisis at the Golden Globes
Jamie Foxx is sharing insights after a severe medical crisis that almost claimed his life. At 57, he suffered a brain bleed leading to a stroke in April 2023. Last month, the Oscar winner detailed his experience during his Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, while filming in Atlanta.
While attending the Golden Globes red carpet on January 5, 2025, he spoke with Variety about his ordeal. When asked about his level of fear, Foxx responded candidly, "Very scared. Because this doesn't matter," referring to award shows.
He recounted a touching moment with a nurse in Atlanta who told him, "Jamie, you're a 5-percenter." This meant that less than five percent of people with his condition survive. Foxx admired her dedication, as she mentioned, "I rolled my sleeves up for everybody that comes in here."
Foxx shared that on April 11, he experienced a debilitating headache and asked a friend for aspirin. He humorously noted that friends aren’t necessarily equipped for medical emergencies. "Before I could get the aspirin, I went out. I don’t remember 20 days," he revealed.
The day after his health scare, his daughter Corinne updated fans via social media with information about his condition. She confirmed that Foxx faced a "medical complication" but was receiving excellent care and was on the road to recovery.
Foxx decided to keep the full details of his medical event private until his stand-up special in October. He expressed significant gratitude for the support and care he received during this challenging time.
Earlier, SSP reported that Nick Cannon recently allowed a glimpse into his New Jersey mansion.
