Jana Kramer Shares Her Honest Thoughts on Competing in Dancing with the Stars

Jana Kramer participated in season 23 of Dancing with the Stars with partner Gleb Savchenko, finishing in fourth place. Recently, she openly shared her true sentiments about the competition.
In her podcast episode of Unmask and Unwhine on March 26, Kramer and guest Candace Cameron Bure discussed their experiences on Fox's The Masked Singer. This podcast complements her Whine Down series, inviting guests to discuss their journeys on the singing competition.

Both Kramer and Bure expressed excitement about participating in their respective seasons. Kramer was featured in season 12, while Bure competed in season 13. Bure learned that she was eliminated during the seventh episode.
While chatting, Kramer revealed that her experience on *Dancing with the Stars* was not enjoyable. "I hated Dancing with the Stars because that brought up my insecurities about dancing," she said. She compared it to The Masked Singer, saying, "With [The Masked Singer], it’s just fun and you have a mask on."
Kramer did clarify, "I shouldn’t say I hated Dancing with the Stars; it was just my least favorite among the shows." Before her participation in DWTS, Kramer competed in CMT's Can You Duet in 2008. In 2016, she faced tough competition on season 23 of DWTS, where her partnership with Savchenko resulted in a respectable fourth place finish.

Bure, who also competed in season 18 with Mark Ballas, resonated with Kramer’s feelings. "I feel the same way—I was insecure during Dancing with the Stars," she noted. Nonetheless, Bure added, "I loved that journey so much. I’ll always encourage everyone to join Dancing with the Stars; it’s an amazing experience!"
Bure reflected on her disappointment at being eliminated early from The Masked Singer, stating, "I was upset to be the first one out in my group." Knowing the stakes heightened her anxiety as her husband, Valeri Bure, supported her. "My nerves were sky-high as we awaited the results." She also mentioned, "I thought, ‘I hope I’m the first to go because I’m scared of singing in front of an audience.’ Yet, when my name was called, I was taken aback—‘What? This isn’t fair!’"
Kramer echoed Bure’s sentiments, recounting her own feelings during the series. She confided in her husband, Allan Russell, expressing a desire to leave. Although she finished fourth in *The Masked Singer*, seeing her departure elicited emotions. "I felt a bit teary because I didn't want to go. I hate losing!"
