Jason and Travis Kelce Were ‘Conflicted’ Over Podcast Name, Says ‘New Heights’ Producer

Jason and Travis Kelce’s podcast intern shared intriguing insights from behind the scenes of their show "New Heights." In a bonus episode released on February 27, the Kelce brothers discussed their producer, Brandon Borders, known as Intern Brandon. Borders recounted his previous work, including time spent at "The Soup", and mentioned realizing the potential of "New Heights" early on, US Weekly reported.
Borders recalled, "You wre fighting about the title of the show. I don’t remember the exact options, but Jason, you were conflicted between two or three. You kept saying, ‘I don’t know about New Heights.’ I remember Travis jumping in and saying, ‘That’s the name you f—–g pitched!’" This sibling argument left an impression on Borders, who thought, "Oh s—, these guys are gonna be really good podcasters."

Jason Kelce humorously acknowledged the story, stating, "This is how all my decisions are made. I meticulously think things through. Travis, on the other hand, keeps it simple, saying, ‘Just do this.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, that makes a lot of sense.'"
Borders couldn’t quite recall all the alternative titles but confirmed they were less impressive. "They were bad. They sounded like football puns or something," he remarked.
In his first Zoom interaction with Jason, Borders found a humorous introduction: "You got on the call holding your laptop and then said, ‘Hold on, I gotta put a shirt on.’ I thought, ‘I get this guy.’"

The Kelce brothers launched their podcast in 2022. Jason has previously mentioned how collaborating with Travis has strengthened their bond. "Before this, we would go months without talking," he shared on "Green Light with Chris Long." He described the text exchanges as insufficient for meaningful connection, emphasizing the value of their weekly conversations.
This podcast has helped them engage deeply, allowing for both significant and fun discussions. "We’ll have truly meaningful conversations and know where each of us is in life," Jason expressed.
Travis’ relationship with Taylor Swift has also shifted their podcast's audience. While "New Heights" focuses on NFL content, the new fanbase doesn't detract from their loyalty to original listeners. Jason commented, "We want to be careful to stay loyal to those who’ve tuned in from day one. Many listeners are diehard football fans, and they want that content. We share our lives, but it’s really expanding now."
