Jeff Bridges Reflects on His Cancer Journey
Jeff Bridges, the star of "The Big Lebowski," views his cancer diagnosis positively. The actor, now 74, updated fans about his health three years post-diagnosis of lymphoma, stating, "I’m feeling good." This was expressed during the Country Music Awards in Nashville on November 20, where he remarked that he is "glad to have that in the rearview mirror."
Bridges reflected, "Funny to say it but it was wonderful in a way. You receive gifts during times like that, which only emerge in such difficult periods. It amplifies your love for life and for those you cherish, especially family. You feel all that love returning." He described these feelings as "some strong stuff."
In October 2020, Bridges first shared news of his lymphoma diagnosis via a post on X. He started treatment while poignantly quoting, "As the Dude would say, new s**t has come to light." He expressed gratitude, stating, "I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good." Later that month, he updated his followers with a photo from the hospital, expressing appreciation for their support.
Bridges conveyed, "This cancer thing is bringing on feelings of preciousness, and gratitude, and lots of love." He remarked on the overwhelming warmth he received, describing love as contagious like a positive virus. He also recognized this journey as a reminder of his mortality, stating, "If I have something to share, now’s the time."
By September 2021, Bridges shared that his cancer was in remission. He revealed in a handwritten note, "Lots has gone down since my last installment. My cancer is in remission—the 9" x 12" mass has shrunk down to the size of a marble."
Amid these challenges, Bridges fought COVID-19 while undergoing cancer therapy. Reflecting on his experience, he stated, "Covid kicked my ass pretty good, but I’m double vaccinated and feeling much better now." He noted, "I heard that the vaccine can help folks with long-term COVID. Maybe that’s the cause of my quick improvement."
On Wednesday, Bridges presented the Entertainer of the Year award at the CMAs, even though Morgan Wallen, the winner, was absent.
Earlier, SSP wrote that Jennifer Turpin got married with siblings in attendance.
