Jennie Garth Criticizes Oscars for Snubbing Shannen Doherty in "In Memoriam" Segment

Jennie Garth is expressing her disappointment over the 2025 Oscars snubbing Shannen Doherty in the "In Memoriam" segment.
During an encounter with TMZ on March 5, Garth, 52, shared her feelings about the omission. When a reporter asked about Shannen Doherty's absence, she remarked, "Yeah, that’s messed up."
The reporter pressed further, suggesting that the Oscars might owe an apology. Garth’s reply was "Maybe," indicating that she strongly felt an apology from the producers would be appropriate. Though Doherty did not appear in the montage, she was featured on the official Academy website as one of the stars lost in 2024-2025. Michelle Trachtenberg, who passed away on February 26 at the age of 39, was also absent from the ceremony’s segment.
Garth and Doherty both starred in the iconic TV series "Beverly Hills, 90210," running from 1990 to 2000. Garth remained throughout its entire ten seasons, while Doherty exited after four.

Shannen Doherty passed away in July 2024 at the age of 53 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Garth, an early voice of support, expressed her grief on Instagram following Doherty's passing. She described her longtime friend as "one of the strongest people I have ever known," highlighting their sincere bond built on respect and admiration.
Garth conveyed, "We were often pitted against each other, but that didn’t reflect our true relationship. She was courageous, passionate, and I will deeply miss her."
Later in July 2024, Garth appeared on Today, discussing the impact of Doherty's loss. She expressed shock, citing Doherty's resilience during her illness. "I just didn’t think that would happen for some reason," Garth said.
Tori Spelling, another "90210" cast member, also honored Doherty. On her "Misspelling" podcast, Spelling reflected on the significant impact Doherty had on multiple generations. She stated, "She will live on in her work and in the people that loved her and the things she stood for."
