Jennifer Aniston Critiques Popular Health Mantra: ‘Not True at All’
Jennifer Aniston has strong opinions about a well-known health mantra. In her exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the 55-year-old actress dismisses "no pain, no gain," stating, "That's not true at all. You can actually have gain with no pain."
Aniston emphasizes that her approach to health and fitness has transformed over the years. She has learned various routines and absorbed different tips along the way, stating, "I've tried it all." Her main takeaway is a realization of self-compassion in fitness. "Boy, you didn't have to hurt your body so much back then," Aniston reflects. "You didn't need to beat yourself up."
Initially, Aniston adhered to the belief that intensive workouts were essential. "I always had the message in my brain, You gotta do 45 minutes of cardio, then floor work and then weights," she explains. However, her ongoing partnership with Pvolve, a low-impact fitness program, has reshaped her perspective on exercise. "You can actually enjoy your workout. You don't have to break your body to achieve an incredible transformation," she adds.
Furthermore, when it comes to New Year’s resolutions, Aniston takes a different stance. "I'm not a good person to ask about that. I don't make resolutions," she states candidly. "I really don't. I don't want to let myself down."
Instead of traditional resolutions, she points to Pvolve's "strength redefined" New Year challenge as a proactive alternative. "You are not giving yourself up for the next year," she asserts. Aniston encourages a flexible approach, saying, "If you only can make it for two weeks, and it doesn't work for you, it doesn't work." Her optimism shines through: "I guarantee you, you'll get the bug. People just love it."
