Jennifer Lopez Responds to Ben Affleck's Praise During Their Divorce
Jennifer Lopez is reciprocating after her estranged husband, Ben Affleck, acknowledged her talents.
Lopez, 55, stars in the boxing drama "Unstoppable," a film produced by Affleck, 52, and his long-time friend, Matt Damon. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Affleck praised Lopez’s performance, labeling it as "spectacular."
At the U.K. premiere of "Unstoppable," held on November 5, Lopez responded to Affleck’s commendation. "I would describe all of the cast and everybody behind the scenes as spectacular and wonderful," she shared with a reporter.
Affleck discussed Unstoppable’s positive early reviews during a video interview released on November 3. He contrasted it with his latest film, "Small Things Like These," starring Cillian Murphy. Affleck noted that both projects are produced by his company, Artists Equity.
"'Unstoppable' is a very different movie than this," he remarked. "Yet, it shares a common thread of talented artists’ passion. [Director] Billy Goldenberg and performers like Jennifer, Don Cheadle, Jharrel Jerome, and Bobby Cannavale showed incredible enthusiasm for this project."
He emphasized the emotional connection involving the cast, asserting, "Jennifer is spectacular." Affleck further expressed pride in both films, stating, "...and *Unstoppable* is another example of that."
This exchange of appreciation comes after Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck following two years of marriage. She initiated the process on August 20 in Los Angeles, marking their separation date as April 26, which is a few months before their second wedding anniversary.
Lopez filed the paperwork without legal assistance on the same date they celebrated their marriage in Georgia. Previously, they had married in a Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022, followed by a family gathering in Georgia.
In October, Lopez discussed her challenging year in an interview with Nikki Glaser for *Interview Magazine.* She described feeling as if her "world f—ing exploded."
"I think my whole life I’ve just been trying to say I’m good enough, up to now," Lopez reflected. "Now I know I’m giving myself credit. I’m telling that little girl from the Bronx, ‘You’ve done really good for yourself.’ I didn’t acknowledge that for so many years."
She advised giving oneself comfort and love after enduring hidden struggles and achieving perseverance. "Things can change your life completely, tempting you to give up," she stated. "But I refuse to deny myself what that little girl deserves."
Following her divorce, Lopez is prioritizing self-discovery and embracing her newfound singledom. A source revealed to Us Weekly that "Jen wants to take some time to be single and find herself again." This reflects the journey she wishes to embark upon.
