Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Holiday Surprise: Child in the Hospital
Jesse Tyler Ferguson announced that one of his sons spent Thanksgiving in the emergency room. On November 28, the actor, 49, shared a photo of his son sleeping on him in a hospital bed.
Ferguson and his husband, Justin Mikita, are parents to two sons: Beckett Mercer, age 4, and Sullivan ‘Sully’ Louis, age 2. He expressed his gratitude for the kindness shown by healthcare professionals. His Instagram caption read: "I’ve received a lot of parenting wisdom from @itsjuliebowen, so seeing I wasn't the only one with a kid in the ER on Thanksgiving was comforting. (He's also fine.) Thank you to the kind folks at Lennox Health. NYC really DOES have the best healthcare."
Interestingly, Ferguson's "Modern Family" co-star, Julie Bowen, also shared her own ER experience. She posted about one of her sons’ visits to the emergency room, stating, "It’s not a holiday without a trip to the ER. (He’s fine, btw) HAPPY THANKSGIVING." Bowen’s children include Oliver, age 17, and twins John and Gustav, age 15.
After Ferguson's post, many followers expressed relief over his son’s condition. Comments ranged from, "Glad he's okay! Besides that, hope you had a good Thanksgiving," to "Aw, so sorry to hear, but glad he’s in the best of hands ❤️🫶🏻."
In a heartfelt tribute, Ferguson also honored his late mother, Anne Ferguson, who passed away on November 25. He shared a touching childhood photo, writing, "This photo of me taking my first steps away from my mom's open arms is one of my favorite pictures. Recently, I helped her take some of her last steps." He concluded, "We said goodbye on November 25. Today I give thanks that I was able to be with her in her final moments. You only get one mom, and I'm glad she was mine. My arms will always be open for you. RIP Mom."
On Black Friday, November 29, Ferguson shared another photo of his son dressed in a suit. His caption expressed gratitude for supportive friends helping to create memories for their children.
