Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson Part Ways After a Decade of Marriage
After ten years of marriage, Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson have decided to separate. Together, they are parents to three children: Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5.
In a statement to People on January 13, Jessica shared, "Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage. Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them." She expressed gratitude for the support they have received and requested privacy as they navigate this period as a family.
The split announcement follows months of speculation about their relationship. Both were spotted without their wedding rings as early as October 7, leading fans to speculate about a potential breakup. Although Ashlee Simpson, Jessica's sister, denied these rumors on November 11, many rumors persisted. Eric’s noticeable absence from Jessica’s social media added to the speculation.
Since their 2014 wedding, Jessica, who was previously married to Nick Lachey, often shared glimpses of her life with Eric on social media. For instance, Jessica celebrated his 44th birthday in September 2023 by posting a heartfelt message. She wrote, "Eric turned 44 on September 15 and his family gave him all the love cells we have to celebrate his life. My heart is so taken with this Man..."
When commenting on Eric’s low profile on social platforms, she noted, "(he ain't an Instagram guy, but I always think the more good wishes the better)." As months passed without Eric appearing on her profile, followers began to take notice.
In over a year since Eric’s birthday, he appeared on Jessica's Instagram only twice. The first occurrence was in a post about the family’s spring break, followed by a shared Easter family photo. Recent posts by Jessica prompted more speculation about her relationship status.
On September 23, she posted solo pictures with the captions, "A weekend of much needed self love hugs and pure magnetism." Additionally, she quoted Jack White, stating, "Hate is trying to take someone else’s love for yourself, but I’m here to tell you that love is trying to help someone else." One follower even remarked, "This screams I’m getting divorced."
Eric’s absence on Jessica’s social media feed was significant. He had frequently been featured in vacation pictures, romantic date nights, and birthday tributes. one standout moment was their 11th anniversary post in May 2021. Jessica dubbed the day a celebration of their "connected hearts." She shared, "I knew the night we met, the fate of you locked the key to my searching heart."
Her words highlighted her deep connection with Eric. She said, "Gaining access to your heart to dwell and reside in is the greatest gift I will ever rest within until the end of time." Jessica concluded, reflecting on their children growing older: "Time goes by, but with you and I, time does not exist for it only allows space to broaden..."
