Jessica Simpson Reflects on Separation from Eric Johnson While Promoting New Music

Jessica Simpson recently discussed her emotional journey in connection with her new EP, "Nashville Canyon, Part 1," during a performance at the Luck Reunion festival in Texas. The singer shared her thoughts on her separation from Eric Johnson, stating, "I was out in Nashville...I had to ask some very personal questions on the home front."
"I found out that my world had been turned upside down," she expressed, acknowledging the transformative impact on her life. Simpson further noted, "I am now a very single lady," highlighting her adjustment to life post-separation.

Simpson and Johnson began their relationship in 2010 and have three children together: Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5. The couple announced their separation in January after a decade of marriage.
In her words to Us Weekly, Simpson shared, "Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage." She emphasized the commitment to their children, stating, "Our children come first...we appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family."
With this pivotal chapter in her life, Simpson translated her heartfelt experiences into her music in "Nashville Canyon, Part 1," which is set for release later this month. She noted, "When we open our hearts, sometimes we’re vulnerable... but when we connect with ourselves, we find all the answers."
Last Friday marked her first live performance in 15 years, captivating the audience with new songs like "Use My Heart Against Me," "Sunday Lover," and "Leave," which she labeled a "heartbreak, pissed-off anthem." She also reminisced by covering "These Boots Were Made For Walking," a song she famously performed in the 2005 film "The Dukes of Hazzard."
Despite the emotional depth of "Nashville Canyon," Simpson and Johnson are dedicated to co-parenting effectively. "I’ve grown up so much," she reflected. "Maybe I’m just meant to love a lot of people in my life." She acknowledged not fully understanding her journey but expressed gratitude, stating, "At least I have my children and I still have Eric. He’s still very much a part of my life."
"Nashville Canyon, Part 1" is scheduled for release on Friday, March 21.
