Jocelyn Wildenstein, "Catwoman," Filmed Reality Show Before Passing at 84
Jocelyn Wildenstein, famously known as "Catwoman," filmed a reality show before her passing, as reported by TMZ. Wildenstein died on Tuesday, December 31, at age 84 in Paris, according to her partner, Lloyd Klein.
Following the announcement of her death, TMZ revealed that Wildenstein was involved in a reality project last year. Sources from the production noted that the show has not yet secured a network deal. The project focuses on Wildenstein relocating from Miami to Los Angeles, alongside Klein’s efforts to revive his fashion brand, Lloyd Klein Couture. This new show is separate from an HBO docuseries Wildenstein referred to in a June 2023 interview with the U.K. Sunday Times.
Klein confirmed to AFP that Wildenstein passed away from a pulmonary embolism while staying at a luxury hotel in Paris. The Mayo Clinic describes a pulmonary embolism as a blood clot that obstructs blood flow to an artery in the lung.
Klein expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating that "an icon is gone" and he is in "pain."
Before her death, Wildenstein, born Jocelyne Périsset, gained notoriety for her extensive plastic surgeries, which altered her appearance to resemble a feline. Fans first noticed the transformation after her early surgeries in the late 1970s, comparing her eye lift to that of her pet lynx.
Wildenstein was also recognized for her marriage to billionaire art dealer Alec Wildenstein. They wed in 1978 and ended their marriage in 1999. Media outlets extensively covered their divorce and the ensuing legal battle. Alec asserted in Vanity Fair that he had no influence over the surgeries his wife underwent, despite claims that he encouraged her to alter her looks.
"She was crazy. I would always find out last," he revealed to The Times. Alec added, "She believed she could fix her face, but skin does not work that way."
In a June 2023 interview, Wildenstein stated that Alec "hired a publicist and paid a plastic surgeon to certify that I completely changed my face" to gain leverage in their divorce.
Jocelyn Wildenstein is survived by her two children, Alec Jr. and Diane.
