Jodie Turner-Smith: Balancing Motherhood and Career
Jodie Turner-Smith, an actress starring in the new TV series "The Agency," enjoys support from her mother while juggling work and parenting. She shares her four-year-old daughter, Juno, with her ex, Joshua Jackson.
During a recent interview with PEOPLE, Turner-Smith discussed her role in "The Agency" and her approach to balancing her career with motherhood. She mentioned managing three TV show premieres this year. Even though filming was spread out, she noted, "It’s been a thing to juggle." She emphasizes how fortunate she feels, stating, "I’m really supported by my mom in looking after my daughter." Whenever work requires her absence, her mom accompanies her to help care for Juno.
Turner-Smith reflects on the common challenges for working parents. She points out, "It’s not a unique circumstance. It’s something every working parent faces, particularly mothers." She acknowledges the specific guilt mothers may feel as they navigate their professional and personal lives.
Above all, Turner-Smith aims to serve as a positive role model for her daughter. She shares, "I'm modeling fulfillment for my daughter." Her passion for her work motivates her; she expresses, "I really love my job. It makes me very happy." Turner-Smith hopes that her strong work ethic and dedication will inspire Juno. "When I’m not working, I give her all of me," she adds.
In an earlier Glamour interview for their Woman of the Year cover story, Turner-Smith opened up about co-parenting with Jackson. She noted the adjustments that come after separation, saying, "It’s an adjustment period for anyone when they split up." No manual exists for navigating these changes, which everyone must figure out. She explained how the unique circumstances surrounding their separation affect co-parenting.
