John Leguizamo Discusses Daughter Allegra's Acting Debut Alongside Him

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the 64-year-old John Leguizamo shared his proud feelings about his daughter Allegra, 25, entering show business. He expressed enthusiasm about their first shared project, which will premiere in May 2025.
"We did this movie with [Robert] De Niro and Jamie Foxx called "Tin Soldier." In a scene, she had to hold a gun to me, something she’d never done before," he recalled. "She had it aimed at me, and it was a wild moment. It was our first time on screen together, and there she was, holding a gun to her dad's face."
Leguizamo and his wife, Justine Maurer, celebrated their first child, Allegra, in 1999. A year later, they welcomed son Lucas, now 24, completing their family. Discussing his new movie, "Bob Trevino Likes It," Leguizamo indicated that his parenting experience influenced his character’s portrayal.

"You change completely when you have kids. It’s a beautiful gift, but you also worry for them endlessly," he stated. "For 'Bob Trevino', I could easily visualize the loneliness of not having kids because that lack would create a void in life. He seeks to be a father figure for Lily."
In February 2024, Leguizamo shared insights into his home life. He mentioned how Maurer, residing in Manhattan, focuses on city preservation while he continues to perform. Together, they celebrate their family’s diverse heritage.

"I had never attended a seder until Justine and I had children. It was wonderful," he remarked. "Now we celebrate seders and Easter, along with Christmas and Hanukkah. This approach instills a strong connection to their roots,' he noted enthusiastically. 'Having diverse backgrounds truly enriches our family experience."
