John Leguizamo Says His Wife 'Just Discovered Facebook': 'It Still Unites Older Generations'

John Leguizamo shares that his wife, Justine Maurer, recently explored the world of social media. In his latest dramedy, "Bob Trevino Likes It," he portrays Bob, a character connected with a young woman named Lily Trevino, played by Barbie Ferreira. Lily mistakenly believes Bob is her estranged father, Robert Trevino.
At 64, Leguizamo told PEOPLE, "My wife just found Facebook." He elaborated on Maurer's enjoyment, noting she reconnects with friends from high school and elementary school. The couple met in the early '90s and has been married since June 2003.
Leguizamo observed, "It’s so wild. Though it's outdated, Facebook connects older generations." The film, "Bob Trevino Likes It," depicts Bob bonding with Lily as she faces family challenges. Leguizamo hit it off with Ferreira, noting their shared Latinx backgrounds and roots in Queens, New York.

"We played basketball and shared meals with Tracie Laymon, the director," he recalled. "Tracie knew we needed to collaborate closely to create a bond."
Leguizamo brings fatherhood experience to his role, sharing two children with Maurer: Allegra, born in 1999, and Lucas, born in 2000. Allegra is following her father into the entertainment industry as an actress and filmmaker. Her short film, "Flash Warning," will premiere at the Miami Film Festival next month. Moreover, she stars alongside him in the upcoming "Tin Soldier."
Leguizamo expressed pride in Allegra’s talent, stating, "I’m not just saying that as her dad; I’m being objective." Although he harbored concerns about the industry’s challenges, he acknowledged her motivations for acting.

"She’s in it for the craft, not fame or money," he explained. "When your focus is on the work, happiness follows."
"Bob Trevino Likes It" is currently showing in select theaters in Los Angeles and New York City, with a wider release on March 28.
